What I am proud most proud of :

• My swimming

I have learnt how to swim on my side. It took me 5

weeks to perfect this technique and skill , I also learnt

how to swim when in a river and how to scull.

what I can do now which I couldn’t do before :

• Swim on my side.
• Scull.
• Swim feet first in a river.
• Swim head first.

MUSIC THIS YEAR

MUSIC

For Music, We learnt the recorder and the xylophone when choir went away. We learnt hot cross buns on the recorder and learnt mary had a little lamb on the xylophone. It was really fun. Miss Moore taught us the hot cross buns and Miss Percy taught us Mary Had a Little Lamb. It was exciting learning how to play those instruments. I really enjoyed learning mary had a little on the xylophones. And that’s what we done for music.

MATHS

We have done lots of things for maths this year, At the start of the year we done some statistical investigation, Like for example we done an investigation on how many nationalities belong to our class. After we done that, we moved onto problem- solving and we learnt a lot of strategies on how to solve our problems for example don’t subtract,add .Then we moved onto fractions, we learnt about the numerator (say that in a high pitched voice ) and the denominator( say that in a low voice ). We learnt about how to convert a fraction into a decimal and equivalent fractions. Then we moved onto decimals . We looked at the houses, for example the tenths, hundredths, thousandths and so on. Next, we learnt about area and perimeter, We had to figure out a table which needed to fit all of the people and fit all of the food in the middle. We also found out that we a square is a special type of rectangle. Then one day, we measured the area of the classroom to prove to hay park that we had a bigger class then theirs. It was hard but we finished it at the end. And thats what we done this year for maths.

EAT YOUR WORDS

This year, we done eat your words. It was my first time doing eat your words and I didn’t know anything about it.

When we started, A lady talked to us about the groups and the sub groups and the veggies and fruit of winter, We had to write down veggies and fruit on a post it note and stick it into the appropriate group, Then they taught us how to make chickpea patties and coleslaw It was fun making it. At the end, we got to eat it, It was REALLY delicious, I wished it was longer. Then we had our second lesson on spring food and she told us about all the spring food. But this time there was a twist, we didn’t cook any food, WE ATE IT !!!. We had to find a buddy and the other buddy had to be blindfolded. Then they had to reach out into each bowl and eat the food , Then they had to guess what they ate. Each buddy has a turn and at the end they see if they are correct or not. We all had learnt a lot from eat your words and know I know that a peanut is not actually a nut !

1.I have used enlargement skills to create a jigsaw artwork with our class: I think I have enlarged it properly and I looked closely at the lines.

2. I have used a range of pastel techniques: I think I should have used more types of techniques like using the pastel sideways and blending it.

3. I have looked closely at the colours on the small piece and used the same colours on the enlargement: I really like my colours and I think I have looked very closely at the colours.

4. I have blended the pastels using different colours:I think that I have done that because I used lots of shades of red to get the colour

5. What I would do differently next time: Try different techniques.

Jeevan, I really like your blending using different shades of red and orange. You also did a good job with your enlargement. I would have like you to pay closer attention to the details, for example making sure your lines are clean and smooth.

Auckland's NO. 1 Storm

Auckland’s NO.1 storm

On June 10, Auckland had been hit from the storm which left New Zealand in pieces. The storm hasn't been named yet.

When I went to sleep that night , I could feel the cold breeze on my cheeks and hear the wind howling away through the windows. I started of calm with some thunder and some lightning sounds. Then it started

to get messy with branches falling of trees and trees falling on roads , but……...I slept through all of that.

When I woke up, everything seemed to be normal( just like always).

When I was walking to school , everything seemed normal . But when I heard that there was a storm last night. First, I thought they were joking but when I saw the news that night I saw horrifying photo’s of trees fallen on power lines and fields flooded from the heavy rain ,then I knew for sure that they were not joking.

In Auckland, this storm had left trees fallen on power lines and houses roofless and powerless. There was also some flooding  in some regions of the South Island.

My Mum has Medium length black-ish hair with a hint of red-ish colour when her hair shines in the sun. Her beautiful black eyes glimmer as she looks at

you with a grin on her face. She has long eyelashes with thin eyebrows.

She has red cherry lips and white pearl teeth which  twinkles, she also has soft,smooth skin so she feels soft when I cuddle her.

She is very affectionate of me and loves me no matter what I do. She is very trendy and likes to buy the latest

things, she is generous,helpful,and kind, she shows respect to everyone that she meets.

My Mum takes care me and my dad if we get hurt because she’s a nurse at auckland hospital .She cooks for us too.She likes cooking new dishes and experimenting with food. She spends most of her time with me and helps me with my homework .She buys us clothes to wear food to eat .

My Mum likes to cook and go shopping at Postie .She enjoys spending time with me and watching

T.V with me .She LOVES to cuddle me and kiss me.

That’s why my Mum is my favourite person .

Blogging By Jeevan Here at May Road School we have two Ako Hiko/digital classrooms , Room 14 & 15. It’s been a term since we have got our amazing chromebooks, now we have just entered term 2 and we are going to have our own blogs. Here are some facts about our blogs* and what we can do on our blogs : The teacher can delete comments from other people which are inappropriate or rude . You can view other peoples’ blogs and see other peoples’ work . You’re not allowed to post rude things on your blog . Once you post something , the whole world can see it . Did you know that your Parents can view and comment on your blog . *If you don’t know what a blog is , A blog is kind of like a dairy which everyone in the whole world can see it. You can post your work and everyone can see it. The good things about our blogs are that ( like I said before ) that everyone on the world wide web can see it .One of my favourite advantages are that you can see who viewed your blog on the world map and can also see how many posts you transferred to your blog which is great for keeping track of your monthly posts and views.
