PB4L

For PB4L we had to write the things we are supposed to do in the hall. So we wrote what we thought under three groups: value yourself, value your learning and respect all others.

Value Yourself:
Sit next to people who won’t distract you.
Not talking while there is a speaker at the front.

Being focused.

Sitting up quietly.

Wipe your feet when you enter the hall.

Be respectful and sensible.

Ignore those who distract you.

Listen to any notices so you know what’s going to happen.

Don’t distract other people.

Walking sensibly into the hall.

Be a Role Model.

Be responsible for your own behaviour.

Value Your Learning:
Listen to the person who’s talking.
Active Listen.

Follow Instructions.

Going into the hall quietly.

Make sure you're focused on your selves.
Respect All others
Be kind to other people.

Sit down so people can see.

Don’t push other.

Listening to what people are saying.

Have eye contact on the person is talking.

Going in the hall quietly.

Keep your hands and feet to yourself.

No talking so people can hear.

Respect other while they are explaining.

Art this term

This term, we had art day because we had tons of sunshines. So for art day, we mixed matariki and book week together, so for the first part of the day, we were trying to make a origami star so that could represent matariki. And after morning tea, we had to draw an item or a character which represents some sort of fairytale. Here are the photos of our work.

Persuasive blog writing

To all the digital classes in May Road School, In my opinion, I think that we should only put school work on our blogs.

Firstly, The school owns the blog.
That means its meant for learning, right ?
So when they visit your blog, they will be expecting to see work, not something else ! They might think we don’t do any work at our school and we just do nothing, who wants that to happen?

Secondly, We are representing our school.
We must put our best work on our blog, and they might end up seeing something which is not up to standard, That means parents might not send their children to school, and we won’t have that much children come to our school.

And lastly, Everyone in the whole wide world will see it.
It would be really embarrassing if you have a big boo boo on your work, and every one would see it, it's like when you accidentally forget to put your pants on and everyone is laughing at you. Plus, who wants to see a mistake in someone's work, I know I don’t.

There are many reasons why you should only put school work on your blog, I have just named a few. This is the school's own blog that they created for you so you could represent our school show your best work to the whole world, They don’t want something rude for everyone to see.
In conclusion, I truly think that we should only put school work on our blogs.

Matariki this term

This term, we learnt a lot about matariki. We just had our matariki celebration assembly last week, and we had to sing this song, and this drawing has the lyrics on it.

Science this term

This term for science, we are learning about water, A lady called Sally from watercare came to our school and taught us about water. We learnt that water is the only element which can transform into 3 different forms. We also done tons of experiments and here is one of my favourite.

SCIENCE EXPERIMENT
Equipment/materials (what were ALL the things you used to conduct the experiment?):
White pepper, tray, tarpaulin,water.

Hypothesis (what was the prediction you made BEFORE you started doing anything?):
The white pepper would float

Steps taken (list as much detail as you can)
  1. Lay tarpaulin
  2. Put tray on tarp
  3. pour water into tarp
  4. shake pepper into tray

Result (what actually happened, and was it the same as, or different from your prediction?) :
it was the same.

Conclusion (what did you learn from the experiment?):
pepper floats.

Fishy problem using speech recognition

This term, we done a lot of maths problems, but this is my favourite one. I wrote this using speech recognition, try and figure it out.

Fishy problem
Millie has just got a new pet fish. The pet shop owner told her that she needs to put the fish into exactly 1 litre of water. The problem is she can only find 2 containers. One holds 7 litres and the other holds 4 litres. Can you use these two containers to put exactly 1 litre of water into the fish tank?

First I filled up the 4 litre container and then I put four litres of water in 7 litres which means that the 7 litre container now 4 litres in it. Then I filled up the 4 litre container again. And then I put the 4 litres into the 7 litres, but I had 1 litre left in my 7 litre container otherwise it would overflow and that's how I got 1 litre.

Fairy tale problem

For maths, we had to create a problem which included a fairy tale character and you needed to use multiplication to figure it out.

Rumpelstiltskin has to spin hay bales out of gold for the woodcutter's daughter, he spins one hay bale per 15 minutes. How many hay bales can he spin in 12 hours ?

First, I had to find out how many hay bales would he make in an hour. I done that by adding 15 until I got to 60 minutes, which was 4 hay bales. Then I had to times 4 by 12 because it was 4 hay bales per hour and there were 12 hours. Which gave me 48 and the answer is 48 hay bales.
